Senior BJP leader Baijayant Panda with MP Pratap Sarangi in hospital
Bharatiya Janata Party National Vice-President and Kendrapara MP Baijayant Panda met Balasore MP Pratap Chandra Sarangi in Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital and wished him a speedy recovery, on Friday. The latter was admitted after he was allegedly ‘manhandled’ yesterday in Parliament.
In a gesture of solidarity, the Kendrapara MP conveyed his heartfelt wishes for Sarangi’s swift recovery and took the opportunity to check on his wellbeing.
“The incident that occurred yesterday in the Parliament is very condemnable. Whenever parliamentarians stage any protest, they usually leave sufficient space to let others pass by. The LoP did not pass through the available space rather he pushed these MPs (Pratap Sarangi and Mukesh Rajput) and moved ahead,” the national Vice-President stated.
“As a result, two of our senior MPs fell on the ground and sustained injuries on the head and bled. Everyone has seen it and they have been admitted to hospital. The LoP (Rahul Gandhi) pushed them like a ‘club bouncer’. I don’t think, it will be acceptable to any Indian citizen,” the Kendrapara MP expressed.
“There is no place for violence and hooliganism in a democratic country. What transpired yesterday in the Parliament premises is deplorable,” he said.
"Scanning and other medical tests are being done on the two injured to ascertain if they have sustained any internal injuries or not," he added.
Notably, the health condition of MP Pratap Sarangi, who suffered injuries near Makar Dwar when Congress leader Rahul Gandhi allegedly manhandled him, is stable and showing signs of improvement. Injured Sarangi, in a message through his social media handle, attributed his ongoing recovery to the blessings of Lord Jagannath.
Worth mentioning, the Congress MP and Leader of Opposition (LoP) allegedly manhandled Pratap Sarangi and Mukesh Rajput during a protest on the steps of Makar Dwar (the main entrance to Parliament for MPs). The Balasore MP sustained injuries on his head.
