BJP youth wing protesting at Master Canteen Square
The youth wing of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-Odisha protested on Thursday at Master Canteen Square in Bhubaneswar against Congress leader Rahul Gandhi’s alleged manhandling of Balasore MP Pratap Chandra Sarangi in the Parliament earlier in the day.
According to sources, BJP Yuva Morcha staged an agitation and shouted slogans. Hundreds of protesters, led by state BJYM president Abhilash Panda, demanded an apology from the Congress leader. The demonstration took place at the prominent Master Canteen Square, drawing significant attention.
Similar protests were staged by BJP workers in Balasore demanding Rahul Gandhi’s apology. “It is certainly a black day for democracy in India as a senior MP has been manhandled by Rahul Gandhi inside the parliament. He (Rahul) behaved like a goon, which is not healthy for democratic governance,” some BJP agitators stated.
“We demand legal action against the Congress leader as he has tarnished the image of the country’s Parliament, which is regarded as a temple. We strongly condemn his inappropriate behaviour,” a Balasore district unit BJP functionary rued.
On the other hand, in a separate rally, the Congress' scheduled caste (SC) wing agitated at the same location, demanding the resignation of Home Minister Amit Shah. Protesters accused the Union Minister of making derogatory remarks about Dr. B.R. Ambedkar during a debate commemorating the 75th anniversary of the Indian Constitution.
The Congress protesters called for an apology and Home Minister Shah’s removal from his Cabinet position.
Worth mentioning, the Congress MP and Leader of Opposition (LoP) allegedly manhandled Pratap Sarangi and Mukesh Rajput during protest on the steps of Makar Dwar (the main entrance to Parliament for MPs). The Balasore MP sustained injuries on his head.
