Masked burglars looted Rs 5 lakh in cash and gold from Prabhakar Pradhan's home in Angarakh village, Kendrapara. Victims suffered injuries during the armed robbery. Aul police are investigating.

Burglars loot family in Kendrapara

Armed burglars looted money and gold ornaments from a family at gunpoint at Angarakh village under Aul police station in Kendrapara district on Wednesday night.

Victims Prabhakar Pradhan and his daughre-in-law Anusmita Pradhan have suffered severe injuries as the robbers also attacked them with sharped-edged weapons during the loot bid.

As per reports, as many as six miscreants with guns and other sharp-edged weapons entered Prabhakar’s house at around 8 pm yesterday and attacked the house owner and his daughter-in-law Anusmita abruptly before they could understand anything.

The burglars also terrified them by showing guns and looted some net cash and gold ornaments worth over Rs 5 lakh from the house by breaking the lockers of three almirah.

Prabhakar and Anusmita could not identify the burglars as they had covered their faces with masks.

Upon being informed, Aul police reached the spot and started an investigation into the incident.

“The burglars called us and entered the house immediately when I opened the door. They attacked us with sharp-edged weapons and looted money and gold ornaments by terrifying us with guns,” said Anusmita.

In another similar incident, masked burglars looted money and gold ornaments from another family at Napanga village under Bhandaripokhari police station in Bhadrak district yesterday night.

As many as six burglars entered Madhab Sethy’s house on late Wednesday night and looted money and gold ornaments by injuring four family members including three women with sharp-edged weapons.

Bhandaripokhari police reached the spot and started an investigation into the incident. The injured have been admitted to Bhandaripokhari Community Health Centre for treatment.
