In a bone-chilling incident, a woman patient died shortly after she was forced to get down from a bus midway while returning to her home from a hospital.

The heinous incident has been reported in Odisha’s Ganjam district on Thursday. The deceased has been identified as Runu Swain, a native of Padmatola village under Patapur block.

According to sources, Runu Swain was suffering from some ailments for which she underwent treatment at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Bhubaneswar. After slight improvement in her health, she decided to go home.

On Thursday, she along with her son boarded a bus to her village. However, her health condition deteriorated on the way. However, instead of taking her to a hospital or offering her help, the bus employees forced the woman and her son to get down from the vehicle in the middle of the road.

Despite repeated requests by the ailing woman and her son, the bus employees sped away after dumping them on National Highway-16. This further deteriorated her health condition and she passed away.

The incident has left everyone shocked as local condemned the inhumane act of the bus employees. On being informed, Ganjam police rushed to the spot and took stock of the situation.

They later arranged an ambulance to take the body of the deceased to her village for last rites.
