Pallahara Sub-Divisional Hospital
As many as five students fell seriously ill after they reportedly consumed fertilizer by mistaking it to be salt. The incident occurred in Saruali village under Barkote police station in Deogarh district in Odisha on Sunday.
All the sick children were immediately rushed to the nearby Pallahara Sub-Divisional Hospital where they are currently getting treatment. Their condition is stated to be stable now.
As per reports, the children were playing in their village in the afternoon when someone plucked some lemons from a villager’s garden. They cut the lemons and ate them with potash fertilizer by mistaking it for salt.
Subsequently, all of them fell sick and started vomiting. The family members immediately rushed them to the hospital.

The children are reportedly out of danger after receiving preliminary treatment at the hospital.
Doctors have confirmed that all the five children are now in a stable condition. Their rapid recovery is attributed to the swift actions of their family members, who took immediate action upon witnessing symptoms such as vomiting.
The event serves as a sobering reminder for the local villagers about the importance of vigilance when it comes to children’s activities. Increasing awareness about potential hazards in everyday items and the environment is essential to prevent such incidents in the future.
