A 38-year-old man from Khuntakata village in Athagarh block of Cuttack district was cremated with full state honours on Sunday, following his sudden death, for his selfless act of pledging to donate his organs.

As per reports, Prahlad Raut tragically passed away while working at a private event the day before. While a pall of gloom and sorrow descended on his family as well as the entire village, his decision to donate his organs in case of death became a symbol of his immortality.

Following his premature death, his organs were harvested and helped give new life to several individuals in need of a transplant across various hospitals.

Incidentally, Prahlad had married two years ago and has now left behind a six-month-old daughter but his act of organ donation has ensured that he also left behind a lasting legacy.
