In an astounding feat, a two-and-a-half-year-old girl from the Chandbali area of the Bhadrak district of Odisha cemented her place as an achiever in the India Book of Records for showcasing exceptional memory and learning skills.

The tale of this extraordinary success has been achieved by Mrinalini Sahoo. Born in 2022, the toddler has already surpassed many of her age by clinching an achiever tag for correctly identifying 22 fruits, 21 vegetables, 24 vehicles, 24 parts of the body, 22 birds, 12 colours, 16 deities, and 24 animals.

Further, the little prodigy also managed to identify and name 20 prominent leaders, 22 national symbols, all the days in a week and months in a year. She also correctly answered 21 general knowledge questions and counted numbers from 10 to 39, all at the tender age of 2 years and 10 months.

Importance of the Record:

Sahoo’s record holds importance as many of her age have yet to learn how to speak without breaks and pauses. Further, the little girl was able to recall and recite the above in English, despite her mother tongue being Odia.

“When she was two months old, we noticed that she would listen to songs very carefully. We came to know that she is highly attentive when interested in something. Since we are a joint family, she heard all of us interacting and began speaking at around nine months of age,” recalled the child’s mother, Madhusmita Pallai.

How the Toddler Learnt to Identify and Recall:

Narrating how her daughter learnt to identify and recall so many new words, Pallai stated that her daughter exhibited signs of early curiosity. “When I would be in the kitchen, she would repeatedly ask me to tell her the names of every item. Soon enough, she learnt to identify them all in both English and Odia,” she added.
