The unfortunate incident gained political traction after prominent Opposition leader Rahul Gandhi commented about the issue on social media.

“Two tribal women were tied to a tree and severely beaten in Balasore district. Is it not an atrocity on tribals?” Congress leader Santosh Singh Saluja questioned.

Reacting to this, Balasore BJP leader Umakanta Mahapatra stated, “The incident is not at all acceptable, rather is a condemnable one for any civic society. However, this should not be politicised. Police have already taken action and arrested three persons. Justice is not denied to anyone in BJP-led government.”
