Crime spot near bypass road market in Chhatia
A bomb explosion resulted in the untimely deaths of two people in Chhatia locality of Jajpur district, on Tuesday afternoon. The incident has sent shockwaves as local police probes to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the explosion.
According to sources, two persons have died in the bomb explosion under Bari police limits. Their friend, who was accompanying them, has sustained grievous injuries in the incident and is currently battling for life. Details about the explosion are still unfolding. An investigation is underway to ascertain how the bomb exploded.
The three individuals had gone for fishing and were returning home on a motorcycle when the incident occurred. The deceased were from Barchana locality of the district. As per initial police investigation, the explosion was caused by a fish-catching explosive device that they had brought with them.
“Two youths died in a marketplace due to bomb explosion,” an eyewitness expressed.
The incident occurred near bypass road at around 4.30 PM and the two youths died on the spot. The body of a youth was seen separated into two parts from above his waist. Legs snapped from the body were also spotted lying nearby, some locals stated.
The identities of the two deceased have not been ascertained by police at this time. On being informed, a police team reached the crime scene and initiated a probe.
“Three persons had come on a motorcycle. Two of them were present near the vehicle and the third one had gone to a nearby shop. An explosion occurred in the meanwhile and two died on the spot. A scientific team has arrived and we are probing the incident,” Barchana SDPO, Laxmidhar Swain told mediapersons.
