Two injured being carried to Dhenkanal DHH
An explosion resulted in the death of a man and left two others with serious injuries in Jhatkiposi village under Kankadahada police limits in Dhenkanal district, on Monday. The incident occurred as some villagers were allegedly making bombs for hunting.
According to sources, the explosion occurred unexpectedly in the afternoon, alarming locals with a loud noise followed by thick smoke. Other locals rushed to the scene to find three severely injured individuals, who were quickly transported to Kamakhyanagar health centre by a 108-ambulance vehicle.
Unfortunately, the journey was delayed due to a tyre burst, causing a critical postponement in medical attention.
Upon reaching the health facility, one of the injured, Debendra Tiu, was pronounced ‘dead’. The other two, Bhanja Nayak and Bulu Nayak, remain in a critical condition and have been transferred to Dhenkanal district headquarters hospital (DHH). They suffered from severe burns and have sustained grievous injuries to their limbs and chest.
The fatal mishap highlights the perilous nature of handling explosive materials, serving as a stark reminder of the associated risks.
“There was a huge explosion near our house, but I do not know whether a bomb blasted or anything else occurred. After hearing a loud noise, I rushed to the spot and found the three in critical condition,” a relative of the deceased said to OTV.
“My brother and two of his acquaintances were doing something when a huge explosion occurred. I do not know exactly what happened. I and a few others immediately brought them to hospital for treatment,” brother of an injured, Julu Nayak stated.
