As thousands of primary school teachers took out a rally on Lower PMG square in Bhubaneswar to fulfill their 3-point demand, a teacher’s act as demon King Kansa has gathered much attention from all corners.
As per reports, the primary teachers have been on a dharna since the commencement of the winter session of Odisha Assembly. Their three-point demands include complete abolishment of contractual system in the state, increment in salary of teachers joined since 2001 and re-introduction of old pension system.
However, one teacher, Bairagi Sahu received quite a lot of attention from both, the media and his fellow teachers, for his acting and dialogue delivery as King Kansa.
Speaking to OTV, Sahu said, “We will make sure the Biju Janata Dal (BJD) suffers the same fate in Padampur as it did in Dhamnagar recently, if our demands are not met as soon as possible.”
Delivering a dialogue from Dhanu Jatra, he established his identity as King Kansa. Remaining in the character, Sahu said, “I order the State govt to consider our demand at the earliest, otherwise the consequence will not go in their favour.”
They have warned to continue the stir until all their demands are not met.
Recently, a massive rally was organized by NPS Secondary School Teachers’ Association in the state capital in protest against the contractual recruitment process of the government.
As per their allegations, the government had promised to abolish the contractual appointment system and regularize jobs of all the teachers at the higher secondary schools who had joined after 2004. However, these contractual teachers alleged that the notification of the General Administration department lacks transparency.
Back in October 15 this year, Odisha government announced abolition of contractual recruitment system and termed it a historic move. However, it has been alleged that many primary school teachers haven't received any increment, nor has the government regularised their jobs.
