Bolangir: A group youths at Tusura area in the district have launched a ‘Padyatra’ to the district headquarters town from the Tusura NAC to protest the poor infrastructure at the village health centre.
Incidentally, the health centre will turn hundred years soon.
The youths under the banner of Tusura Youth Action Committee will be meetung the district Collector and submit a memorandum requesting him to upgrade the health infrastructure with appointment permanent doctors with other supporting staff.

The sloganeering youths are going to cover a distance of 32 km to reach the district headquarters. They reached at Deogaan today.
Earlier, the Sub-collector had held discussions and persuaded them to refrain from Padyatra. However, the discussion had yielded no fruits, reports said.
The protesters alleged that the hospital was functioning with a lone pharmacist while the doctor’s post has been lying vacant for several years.
According to reports, a doctor is carrying out private practice in the absence of a permanent physician.
As per reports, doctors are reluctant to work at the concerned health centre. Many physicians who had been posted there in the past were transferred to other places within short span of time.
The protestors have demanded that the district administration should take serious note of the issues and review accordingly to find out the reason as why medical staff were averse to work here.
The Youth Action Committee had staged several demonstrations and agitations in the past pressing for their demands. But, all their protests had gone in vein which forced them to resort to such a novel protest.
They hope the administration would come out with a solution and restore normalcy at the health centre.
