Members of Primary Teachers’ Association on Friday swept the floor of Additional District Education Officer (ADEO) Ramesh Lal Nayak’s chamber to protest misbehaviour of Nayak against the headmaster of Bhendia High School under Chandahandi block in Nabarangpur district.
According to sources, Nayak had paid a visit to Bhendia School on September 8 and asked the school headmaster Jagdish Gouda to sweep the school floor after finding it messy. Also, Nayak clicked the photo of Gouda with the broomstick which had gone viral later.
Members of Primary Teachers’ Association took the matter seriously and mobbed Nayak’s chamber in protest against the headmaster’s insult on Friday. They swept the entire floor of District Education Office.
However, Nayak was unavailable to make a comment on it.
Meanwhile, District Education Officer Pradip Kumar expressed concern over the matter and apologised for the ADEO’s behaviour.
Headmaster Jagdish Gouda said, “ADO sir had gone to Bhendia School for monitoring on September 8. On entering Class I, he found the floor untidy. He then asked me to bring a broom and sweep the floor. He then left for other classrooms after clicking my photo with the broom. Though he had not misbehaved with me verbally, photo taken by him had gone viral. My son who is a medical student rang me a few days back and felt really bad after seeing this photo. He asked me the reason behind additional DEO’s misbehaviour towards me. My family members were shattered too after knowing it.”
“No teacher would face such mental harassment like me”, Gouda added.
District Education Officer Padip Kumar said, “There was no ill intention of ADEO behind asking the headmaster to sweep the floor. It just happened accidentally. Such incident will not repeat in future. The ADEO will also beg forgiveness for his act.”
