The incessant downpour under the influence of the deep depression over the Bay of Bengal has lead to swelling of major rivers across Odisha triggering panic among people living in low-lying areas. Due to heavy rain odisha 21 Lakh People Hit from different location in the state.

According to sources, seven rivers in the State are in spate due to the heavy incessant rains that lashed many parts of the State for over two days.

While the water level of Mahanadi is increasing at Naraj, the Devi River is swelling near Alipingala. Similarly in Sundargarh the Ib River is in spate, while the water level of Brahmani River is rising at Jenapur and Panposh.

On the other hand, the Brahmani River is flowing above the danger level at Akhuapada. Similarly, the Subarnarekha River is swelling near Rajghat and Jamsolaghat, while the Budhabalanga River is in spate near National Highway-5.

Jalaka River is flowing above the danger level at Mathani, while the Bansadhara River is swelling near Gunupur.

Meanwhile, over 1500 people of Dangasahi in Thakurmunda block in Mayurbhanj district are marooned as bamboo-bridge over Salandi River connecting the village to the mainland was washed away after heavy downpour.

Similarly, a bridge on Mahuda-Bahupali road in Binika submerged leading to communication disruption in the area. The flood water is currently flowing 5 ft over the bridge following the incessant rainfall.
