In an unusual and bizarre incident, a man in a remote village in Kandhamal district of Odisha lived with the snake which bit him for two days, biting it multiple times as an act of revenge, before his body was found in a drain on Wednesday.

Residents at Simanbadi village found a motionless Kumuti Nayak in a drain adjacent to the village on Wednesday morning. They rushed him to a hospital where doctors declared him dead on arrival. The body has been sent for post-mortem even as Nayak’s bizarre act of revenge with the deadly serpent has become a talking point in the locality.

As per reports, the incident took place when Nayak was returning home in the evening on Monday. Unable to see in the dark, Nayak stepped on a poisonous snake which was crossing the road. The snake bit him on one of his legs.

However, Nayak wasn’t ready to give up easily. In a bid to take revenge, an angry Nayak somehow managed to catch hold of the serpent and bit it multiple times. He then took the snake to his house where he kept it for the next two days, biting it several times.

However, the poison took toll on Nayak who eventually died before fellow villagers found his body in a drain. They summoned the fire service personnel who extricated the body from the drain and took it to a hospital. Nayak had died by then.

“We saw Nayak’s body floating in the drain and informed the local police station immediately. Later, it was revealed that he had been bitten by a snake after which he managed to bit it back and kept it at home for two days,” a villager told OTV.
