Allegations of ragging have resurfaced at the Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology (VSSUT) in Burla after a student on Thursday alleged that he was ragged and thrashed by a senior in the varsity campus.

According to sources, a third year student of the institute was allegedly ragged and thrashed by a fourth year student inside a hostel of the university.

The victim sustained grievous injuries on his face, back and hand in the physical harassment, sources added.

The victim has lodged a complaint with the anti-ragging cell of the university and a discussion is underway with the Dean Students' Welfare over the matter.

Earlier in March this year, a second year student had also brought ragging allegations against his seniors.

The university disciplinary committee and anti-ragging cell had initiated a probe following a complaint by the victim. The disciplinary panel had questioned some forth year students who were identified by the victim.
