Sambalpur: Odisha Health Minister Naba Das on Saturday directed the department’s Additional Chief Secretary (ACS) to appoint a senior official to conduct a probe into the allegations of sexual harassment in the name of ragging some students at the Sambalpur Homeopathy College.

Das has directed Health dept ACS Pradeepta Kumar Mohapatra to rope in a senior official for inquiry into the incident and submit the probe report within 3 days. This apart, the minister has also asked Mohapatra to take necessary action against all those involved in connection with the incident.

As per sources, some girl students of the Odisha Medical College Of Homoeopathy and Research (OMCH&R) in Sambalpur recently lodged a complaint with the National Anti-Ragging cell, New Delhi accusing seniors of torturing and harassing in the name of ragging.

Based on the complaint, the National Anti-Ragging Cell, New Delhi on 1 April directed the authorities of OMCH&R to initiate an inquiry into the matter and submit a report.

Speaking to the reporters, Principal of the Homoeopathy College Prof. (Dr.) Rajendra Kumar Singh said that the inquiry will be completed soon and the report will be submitted to the national anti-ragging authorities.
