In a curious twist to the sensational day-light kidnapping drama in  the heart of the Capital city, a top police official has clarified that it was not a case of abduction.

He said the youth, who was assumed to be the victim, was actually an escapee from a de-addiction centre.

The Bhubaneswar Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Umashankar Dash said the incident which was reported from Delta Square in Bhubaneswar today afternoon was promptly investigated and the boy has been located.

“The today's alleged incident of kidnapping in Delta Chowk was promptly investigated. The boy has been located. Apparently he had fled a de-addiction centre. All aspects of the incident are being investigated including conduct of the centre,” the DCP tweeted. 

As per reports, on Thursdsy afternoon the youth along with another person was travelling on a motorcycle when some persons intercepted them. The five persons then forcibly tried to push the youth into a SUV as he screamed for help.

Though the locals present on the spot tried to resist them, the five persons overpowered them and fled the spot with the youth.

The entire incident, which was captured in mobile phone cameras by some locals, created a sensation in the after those went viral, raising question marks over the law and order situation in the State Capital.
