Kendrapara: Pattamundai Police in Kendrapara district foiled a man’s alleged abduction bid and rescued two minor girls on Tuesday.

Rakesh Tripathy, IIC, Pattamundai Police Station informed that police swung into action after getting a written complaint from the girls' parents and detained the accused from Palasingha area on charges of abducting the minor girls.

"We rescued the girls and apprehended the accused who had abducted them on the pretext of offering them lift to their school in Bangalipada village. We are now looking into the motive of the kidnapper. Further investigation into the matter is underway,” Tripathy said adding we have also seized the two-wheeler which the man used to abduct the girls.

The accused, whose identity was not known immediately, had allegedly kidnapped Anita Barik, a student of class III, and Annapurna Mondal, a class V student, on the pretext of offering them lift to school.

The mater came to light after the girls raised alarm when the accused did not drop them in front of their school.
