Former PACS President Held For Attack On Tehsildar At Odisha's Bolangir

The Bolangir police on Thursday arrested a former president of Deogaon Primary Agriculture Credit Societies (PACS), Sailesh Sahoo, on charges of assaulting Tusura Tehsildar Chandramani Nag.

Sahoo was forwarded to a court following his arrest, informed Bolangir Sub Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) Tophan Bag.

"Former president of Deogaon PACS Sailesh Sahoo had threatened the Tehsildar and physically assaulted him. Based on the complaint lodged by the Tehsildar, we have arrested Sahoo and forwarded him to court,"  the SDPO said.

Notably, the Tehsildar was allegedly attacked by Sahoo on Monday when the former went to meet and pacify farmers who were protesting over non procurement of paddy.

The incident took place when hundreds of farmers had blocked the State Highway-26 by placing paddy-laden tractors on the road alleging irregularities and confusion in token distribution at Deogaon PACS. 

When Nag reached the spot and was holding discussions with the agitating farmers Sahoo allegedly assaulted him.
