Maggi is undoubtedly one of the favourite foods of Indians, especially youngsters and bachelors. But who knew the noodles would become a ground for the divorce of a couple.
District session and principal chief judge M Raghunath recollected a ‘Maggi case’ during his tenure as a judge in Bellari district.
Speaking to the media, he said that a man filed a divorce petition against his wife alleging that she always serves him instant or ready-to-eat food like Maggi for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
As per the allegations of the petitioner, his wife did not know cooking except for preparing instant noodles. The woman used to bring only the instant noodles packet from the market rather than buying any other grocery items.
The judge added that both husband and wife were given divorce with mutual consent.
In addition to the above case, the justice informed that many couples filed for divorce citing strange reasons. He said one couple wanted a divorce just because the wife had put extra salt in food.
He recalled one more case where a wife sought divorce after her husband did not paint the house in colour she chose.
Justice ML Raghunath cited that there is a need to amend a law for couples to stay together for some years after marriage. The justice said that if this law will not be applied soon, many couples will file for divorce just after marriage.
