Social media is a drug. Despite being titled as "social media," these platforms just stand contrary and hamper socialisation, leading to loneliness, stress, insecurity, trust issues, lower self esteem and eventually depression.

The long-hours exposure to social media content on platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, Snapchat and other online gaming apps such as Pokemon Go adversely affects the children between the ages of 14 and 24. 

The University of Arkansas recently published its research, which discovered substantial and predictable relationships between depression and all personality factors. The authors highlighted that the literature lacks studies that concentrate on how individuals interact with social media, resulting in depression.
