The Department of Post has come up with a fresh recruitment notification inviting applications from candidates for the positions of Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) in West Bengal circle.

Interested candidates can now apply for the India Post Office recruitment on or before August 19, 2021.

Post: Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS) which includes Branch Postmaster (BPM), Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM) & Dak Sevak posts.

Educational Qualification For India Post GDS Recruitment 2021

  • Secondary School Examination pass certificate of 10th standard with passing marks in Mathematics, local language and English (having been studied as compulsory or Elective subjects) conducted by any recognized Board of School Education by the Government of India/State Governments/ Union Territories in India shall be a mandatory educational qualification for all approved categories of Gramin Dak Sevaks.
  • Compulsory knowledge of Local Language: The candidate should have studied the local language at least up to 10th standard [as compulsory or elective subjects].
  • Basic Computer Training: The candidates for all approved categories of GDS referred to in (i) above will be required to furnish Basic Computer Training Course Certificate of at least 60 days duration from any Computer Training Institute run by Central Government/State Government /Universities / Boards / Private Institutions Organizations. This requirement of basic computer knowledge certificate shall be relaxable in cases where a candidate has studied computer as a subject in Matriculation or class XII or any other higher educational level and in such cases, a separate certificate will not be insisted upon.

Age Limit for India Post GDS Recruitment 2021:

The minimum and maximum of age for the engagement to GDS posts is between 18 and 40 years respectively as on July 20, 2021 the date of notification of the vacancies.

The permissible relaxation in Upper age limit for different categories is: 5 years for Schedule Caste/Scheduled Tribe (SC/ST), 3 years for Other Backward Classes (OBC), 10 years for persons with disabilities (PwD), 13 for Persons with Disabilities (PwD) + OBC and 15 years for persons with disabilities (PwD) + SC/ST. No relaxation for the economically weaker sections (EWS).

Salary Details:

Branch Post Master (BPM): Rs 12,000- Rs 14,500
Assistant Branch Postmaster (ABPM)/Dak Sevak: Rs 10,000- Rs 12,000

Selection Criteria:

Selection will be made as per the automatic generated merit list as per the rules based on the candidates online submitted applications. No weightage for higher educational qualification. Only marks obtained in 10th standard of approved Boards aggregated to percentage to the accuracy of 4 decimals will be the criteria for finalising the selection. 

Fee Payment:

Applicant of category OC/OBC/EWS Male / trans-man should pay a fee of Rs 100 for each set of five options. Payment of fee is exempted for all Female / trans-woman candidates and PwD candidates.

Steps To Apply For India Post GDS Recruitment 2021:

Step 1: Visit the official website of India Post- https://appost.in/gdsonline/. On the homepage, click on the register option. Candidate has to register in the Registration module once per cycle and obtain unique registration number.

Step 2: Fee Payment UR/OBC/EWS Male /Trans-man need to make fee payment. In case of online payment, if no confirmation is received after the deduction of amount from candidate's bank account, candidates can await up to 72 hours for settlement. Offline payments can be made at any Head Post Office.

Step 3: Once the payment is made, fill the application form and submit.

Step 4: Upload the required documents and submit post preferences.

Step 5: Preview and take a print out of it for future reference.

Note: Completion of the last three steps will only be treated as submission of application.
