It is very difficult to clear the civil services examination and become an IAS officer. And that is why aspiring candidates are given multiple attempts so that they can try their luck.

However, over the years, there have been many candidates who cleared the tough exams in the first attempt.

Bhawna Garg

Bhawna Garg passed the IAS exams in the first attempt in 1999. Prior to that she had completed engineering at IIT Kanpur and a Master’s from Princeton University. Currently, she is working as a Deputy General Director at the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI).

Ankur Garg

This candidate from Haryana topped the IAS exam in 2002 in the first attempt. Ankur was the youngest IAS officer of that time. It was his childhood dream to become an IAS officer and Ankur was confident that he would be in the top 10.

Roopa Mishra

Roopa Mishra from Odisha cleared the IAS exam in the first attempt in 2003. She was the first woman from Odisha and the first married woman to pass the civil services exam. Prior to giving the examination, she had completed her MBA and currently is working as the Director of Drinking Water and Sanitation for Jal Shakti in New Delhi.

Shah Faesal

Shah Faesal topped the civil services examinations in 2009 in the first attempt and become the first from Jammu and Kashmir to do so. Currently, the Indian bureaucrat is working as a Deputy Secretary in the Cultural Ministry of India.

Tina Dabi

Tina Dabi from New Delhi cleared the civil services exams in the first attempt in 2015 with AIR no 1 rank. As of now, she is working as the District Collector and Magistrate in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan.

Kanishak Kataria

This boy from Rajasthan passed the IAS exam in the first attempt in 2018 with the no. 1 AIR ranking. Prior to that, he had completed his engineering from IIT Bombay.
