Dark chocolates are rich in antioxidants like flavanols, catechins, and polyphenols that lower certain types of bad or LDL cholesterol when combined with foods like cocoa and almonds. Rather this combination has more antioxidants as compared to fruits like acai berries and blueberries.
May improve blood flow, and lower blood pressure
A controlled study has shown that dark chocolates may improve blood flow and lower blood pressure. However, more studies are required to confirm these findings.
May reduce heart disease risk
The compounds present in dark chocolate are protective against the oxidation of LDL and thus help stop the bad cholesterol from clogging the arteries. Thus, it is helpful in reducing the risk of heart disease.
