Several records will be attempted during this year’s Bali Yatra in Cuttack starting from November 8 (tomorrow). A unique Guinness Book of Records will be attempted by over 2,000 students and other citizens to prepare 10,000 paper boats in 15 minutes.
Similarly, a sand art by India’s acclaimed sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik will also try to get his sand sculpture entered in the Limca book of records.
Sudarsan Patnaik has come up with a unique sand sculpture showcasing a gigantic ‘Boita’ (boat) which will be decorated with over 25,000 earthern diyas (lamps). Sudarsan along with 20 of his students took almost three days to come up with the master sand art which will be the centre of attraction this year at Cuttack’s Bali Yatra.

“As Bali Yatra is going to be organised after a gap of two years, we are trying to attempt a world record through an installation art form in which 25,000 clay diyas will be used in the sand art in the form of a large boat (biota),” said Sudarsan.
“It is Odisha’s tradition to sail boats and light diyas to remember the rich maritime history of the state. We have received a green signal from the Limca book of records to attempt the unique fete. It will be the longest sand art with diya installation art if everything goes as per plan,” Sudarsan added.
