  • There was a time when SRK was the biggest superstar in the country.
  • But time keeps on changing for everyone and it changed for Shah Rukh Khan.

Shah Rukh Khan’s stardom has bounced back with the massive earnings of Pathaan. While the debate is still on whether the 1000 crore figure is due to corporate booking or a real one, the way he is promoting his upcoming movie Jawan, it seems that his confidence has skyrocketed once again.

There was a time when SRK was the biggest superstar in the country while other big Bollywood stars like Akshay Kumar, Ajay Devgn, Salman Khan , and Aamir Khan were doing well but a lot behind him in terms of popularity. But time keeps on changing for everyone and it changed for Shah Rukh Khan when his much-hyped movie Dilwale with Rohit Shetty flopped badly.

The film had all the right combinations. It had the super lead pair of SRK and Kajol that earlier gave big hits like Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jayenge, Kuch Kuch Hota Hai, Karan Arjun, My Name is Khan and so many more. Rohit Shetty had a stellar record of multiple blockbusters behind him and his last release with SRK- Chennai Express was a big hit. Even then Dilwale which also starred young pair of Kriti Sanon and Varun Dhawan went neglected.

At that time there was a strong social boycott trend against Dilwale. Speaking on the same during an interview the Koyla actor said that he does not believe that the movie flopped because of the boycott. The Badshah of Bollywood said, “Hawan se thodi na hilne wala hoon. Hawan se zhadiyan hilti hain. Because in this country Bharat, the way people love me very few people have received that kind of love.” He believed that maybe they did not do a good film which is why the movie did not do well and earlier he and his team accept that they would be able to do a better film.

But destiny proved Shah Rukh Khan wrong when 3 to 4 movies of SRK after Dilwale tanked at the box office. From Fan, Zero, to Raees, and Jab Harry Met Sejal, all the movies that were released after Dilwale failed to do good and the superstar was forced to take a sabbatical and review his script choices.

Almost 4 years later when he was back on the screen with Pathaan Shah Rukh Khan was welcomed with open arms. Albeit many people believe that the figures of Pathaan are fake and the superstar tried to exaggerate the number through corporate booking.
