When Nita Ambani thought Dhirubhai Ambani's call was a prank; her reaction was hilarious; watch

Nita Ambani and Mukesh Ambani are one of the most powerful couples in India. Be it business, entertainment, hospitals, or sports, the pair has been actively involved in multiple activities. The recently opened Nita Mukesh Ambani Cultural Centre in Mumbai is proof of the fact that the Ambanis have always been interested in offering platforms that give artists across the country and the world an opportunity to showcase their talent.

And one of the reasons is that Nita Ambani is a trained classical dancer. It was this dance that led to her marriage to Mukesh Ambani. As per the story, once Dhirubhai Ambani and Kokilaben Ambani had gone to a cultural event and saw Nita performing on the stage. Dhirubhai was impressed with Nita’s overall presentation and demeanour and thought that she was just perfect for his son Mukesh Ambani.

After taking Nita’s phone number from the programme manager, the business tycoon called her. But Nita who then belonged to a middle-class family almost was out of her mind when she rejected Dhirubhai’s call as a prank not once but twice in a row.

When Nita heard the speaker on the other side introducing himself as Dhirubhai Ambani, she could not believe it. First, she said that you are joking and put down the phone. When the phone rang again and the speaker once again said, “I’m Dhirubhai Ambani. Can I speak to Nita?”

At that time, Nita was having her exams and was engrossed in her studies and was just irritated by the call thinking that it was a prank. Out of irritation, she replied, “If you are Dhirubhai Ambani, I’m Elizabeth Taylor.”

The third time when the phone rang, it was Nita’s father who picked it up and his expression changed when he found out what Dhirubhai intended from his daughter. He asked Nita to talk to Dhirubhai and that is when she found out that the speaker on the other end was indeed the richest man in India, Dhirubhai Ambani.

The business tycoon then went thrice to Nita’s house with the proposal and after both Nita and Mukesh were introduced, the latter proposed to her when they were on a long drive.
