Movie lovers extremely loved Salman Khan and Madhuri Dixit's onscreen chemistry in the 90s and the iconic pair is still celebrated by fans. The duo paired in Suraj Barjatya's Hum Aapke Hain Koun and garnered high appreciation from the audience. However, even though the movie emerged as a blockbuster, Madhuri rejected the next offer to work with Salman.

Well, the reason behind rejecting the movie is quite interesting. Madhuri was offered the role of Sadhna in Hum Saath Saath Hain (1990). She even liked the script. But, she rejected the offer from the director who gave her one of the biggest blockbusters of her career as she was not ready to play Salman's Bhabi in the family drama.

As per reports, when Hum Saath Saath Hain was pre-production phase, Madhuri was offered to play Sadhna in the movie. However, Madhuri was not keen to play the role of Prem (Salman)'s bhabi. Madhuri thought that the audience wouldn't accept them as onscreen Bhabi-Devar after being lovers in Hum Aapke Hain Koun.

After, Madhuri's denial, the role was offered to Tabu.

Explaining the reason for rejecting the offer, during an interview with Reddif, Madhuri said, "If you put me in Tabu's place and visualise Salman touching my feet, I think, people would have hooted in theaters. And, I think, it's right, because of Hum Aapke Hain Koun, which was a lovely story between Salman and me."

In the same interview, Madhuri revealed that she wanted to play Karisma and Neelam's character; however, Sooraj didn't find her apt for these roles.

Certainly, even imagining Salman and Madhuri as Bhabi-Devar after enjoying their onscreen romance would be a disaster.
