After taking over the South, Rashmika Mandanna is ready to make it big in B’town with Mission Majnu. Marking her Pan-India arrival, Rashmika will be going out of her comfort zone with the spy drama and has donned a never-seen-before avatar. Recently, Director Shantanu Bagchi spilled the beans on why he cast Rashmika in the Sidharth Malhotra co-starrer and her work as a newcomer in Bollywood.
Mission Majnu director Shantanu revealed during a media interaction that when he was searching for a female lead for the film, he came across Rashmika’s work in Dear Comrade. He was so impressed by the National Crush’s nuanced performance that he decided to rope her as Rash, just like the film’s character, is the right combination of innocence and beauty.
Meanwhile, producer Amar Butala also revealed that Rashmika picked up every nuance of her character despite the fact that the shoot rehearsals were done through video calls and has the sincere energy of a newcomer.
Mission Majnu is a spy drama based on the true events of India's most ambitious covert operation set in the 1970s. The film is a thrilling tale about one of the most daring operations in the history of RAW with Sidharth Malhotra playing an undercover Raw Agent. On the other hand, the character of Rashmika has been kept under the wraps. The film started rolling in February 2021 and is currently at a halt due to the pandemic.
Interestingly, even before her Bollywood debut with this film, Rashmika has already signed her second Bollywood film opposite Amitabh Bachchan titled Goodbye.
