Southern and Bollywood collaborations are nothing new. But when leading superstars are involved in such collabs, they certainly become more appealing and their box-office value increases as such movies are watched by both the South Indian and Bollywood movie fans.

Shah Rukh Khan and Ajith

While most of the fans remember that SRK paired up with Southern star Priyamani for a song in Chennai Express, no one knows much about his collaboration with Thala Ajith for Shah Rukh’s home production Asoka that released in 2001. In this movie based on the life of legendary king Asoka, while the Badshah Khan played the role of Asoka, Ajith played the character of Asoka’s elder half-brother Susimay Maurya. The film also starred Kareena Kapoor Khan.

Akshay Kumar and Rajnikanth

Khiladi Kumar and the Southern superstar collaborated for 2.0, a Tamil movie based on science fiction and released in 2018. It was helmed by Shankar who is well known for presenting big-budget and huge blockbusters. 2.0 was made on a budget of Rs 575 crore and to date is one of the most expensive movies. The movie was the second installment of the Enthirian franchise in which Rajnikanth reprised the roles of Chitti and Vaseegaran. Akshay played the role of Pakshi Rajan and the movie was all about the fight between Pakshi and Chitti.

To date, 2.0 is one of the most successful movies from India worldwide.

Salman Khan and Kichcha Sudeep

Salman Khan roped in Southern star Kichcha Sudeep for the role of lead antagonist in his movie Dabangg 3. The franchise has been a big one in which earlier Sonu Sood, and Prakash Raj had played the characters of villains. That is why both the producer Arbaaz Khan and director Prabhu Deva were looking for someone who could spring up an element of surprise when Salman fought with the antagonist.

While the movie did not do well as the first two flicks from the franchise, Sallu Bhai was greatly impressed by Sudeep’s performance and gifted him a BMW.
