Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s journey from being a beauty queen to one of the most beautiful and famous actresses in the Indian film industry has been super awesome. While the actress has cut down work after giving birth to Aaradhya she continues to do a movie or two occasionally.

In her career span of more than two decades, Ash has worked with almost all the leading directors. But one director who has contributed hugely towards shaping her illustrious film career is none other than famous Southern director Mani Ratnam.

She debuted in the film industry with Iruvar in 1997 helmed by Mani Ratnam who was also the writer and producer of this flick featuring big Southern names like Mohanlal, Prakash Raj, Nassar, Revathy, and Tabu. The film was appreciated both by the critics and the fans.

Her second movie with the Roja director was Guru which also starred Abhishek Bachchan alongside her. The film released in 2007 revolved around the life of Gurukant Desai who reached Mumbai from his native village ultimately to become a business tycoon. It is considered to be one of the best collaborations of Ash and Mani to date.

Raavan was a collaboration between Ash, Abhishek, and Mani revolving around the life of a bandit leader who kidnaps the wife of a police officer who had killed his sister but eventually ends up falling in love with her. The movie was also released in Tamil and was titled Raavanan. It starred Vikram, Priyamani, and Prithviraj Sukumaran and did well in the South.

Aishwarya and Mani have now teamed up for the fifth time for Ponniyin Selvan. The Tamil movie is reportedly going to feature Abhishek and Amitabh Bachchan as well.

Apart from Mani Ratnam, Aishwarya has worked the most with Sanjay Leela Bhansali in three movies including Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam, Devdas, and Guzarish.
