Sharmila Tagore, SImi Garewal, Wes Anderson
Simi Garewal and Sharmila Tagore very recently attended the Cannes 2025 and for many veteran Bollywood fans it was like nostalgia hitting in a big way. The two actresses have worked in some of the most remarkable Indian movies and are one of the very few veteran actresses who continued to stay in the limelight despite taking a step back from mainstream cinema.
The two veteran actresses attended the Cannes 2025 Film Festival to represent the screening of the Indian movie Aranyer Din Ratri. The glimpses of the two divas gracing the film festival have been shared by Saba Pataudi, daughter of Sharmila Tagore on her Instagram page. Fans showered immense love on all three and as usual both Sharmila and Simi looked as graceful as they did during the heydays in the 60s.
Aranyer Din Ratri which also means Days and Nights in the Forest was made by famous movie director Satyajit Ray and was released in 1970. The Bengali movie was restored by American filmmaker Wes Anderson in English and then its 4K version was screened at this year’s Cannes Film Festival under the Cannes Classics section.
It was Simi Garewal ’s debut at the Cannes and she rocked her presence in as expected in all white ensemble. For SharmilaTagore it was not her first outing at the prestigious film festival having attended it in 2009 as a jury member. Bollywood fans was happy to see these two beautiful actresses at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival and a few even demanded that they wanted to see more of them.
The good news is that nowadays, many yesteryear actresses who reigned Bollywood during their eras are now slowly coming back into the limelight. Be it Zeenat Aman, Mumtaz, or even Waheeda Rehman and Asha Parekh, most of these actresses nowadays can be seen appearing as guests on leading television reality shows and podcasts.
