When Hrithik Roshan shared his interest in serious comedy, decoded what exactly he wanted Watch

Hrithik Roshan is known more for action and romance. His action scenes, drama and romance has always been the highlights of all his big hits. But comedy? Fans have rarely seen him doing a complete comedy film. Of course over the years in many movies he has done a few comic scenes or played with satire but such scenes have been very less.

So is Hrithik Roshan averse to doing an out and out comedy movie like Hera Pheri or Welcome or he never got a chance to do such a movie?

Hrithik Roshan would love to do a comedy movie but…

In a throwback interview a few years ago, the Bollywood superstar revealed the type of comedy he would like to do. During an interview, the Krrish actor said, “The kind of comedy I want to do I think is serious. Let me see how I can explain this because I am not good with words. I will try. Serious comedy is when you take characters and you say he is like this, he is like that and he is like that. These are his characteristics. And then you throw this person into situations. And allow them to react as they would bring the characters they are.”

“So you are not making someone say something driving the scene by making the actors say something because you have a thought on how the scene should play out. How the scene will play out depends on how these guys will do. So that’s kind of I do not know serious kind of is the right word. But that’s what I mean,” Hrithik Roshan added.

If that happens it will mean that the behaviour of the character will be integral to his characterisation. It certainly is something that usually has not been tried in Bollywood although over the years many comedy movies have been made which have gone down well with the audience. It is also an intelligent comedy which is much different from the slapstick or one liner or punch liner comedy that has been so common in the Indian cinema.
