Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone’s Pathaan was a big blockbuster. Rather it helped SRK make a comeback with a bang after taking a break from acting for a couple of years. Pathaan is a part of YRF’s Spy Universe that started with Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif’s Ek Tha Tiger followed by Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff’s War.

That is why Salman Khan made a cameo in Pathaan as Tiger to tie the two movies together as one Spy Universe. Since Pathaan was a big hit, there have been rumours about YRF coming out with a sequel. Although time and again there has been news about Aditya Chopra actively working on the script of Pathaan 2, it was never officially confirmed.

In the last few days, there has been a strong buzz that YRF has locked the script for Pathaan 2 and that shooting for the sequel will start at the beginning of next year. The internet is abuzz with such news that suggests that YRF has confirmed the script for Pathaan 2. However, a few journalists have said that the sequel is not happening soon, and neither Shah Rukh Khan nor YRF is currently thinking about it.

Pathaan 2 may start rolling only after War 2

YRF is currently busy with War 2 and wrapping it soon. Similarly, Aditya Chopra is also very eager to complete the shooting of Alpha-all female-led spy universe with Alia Bhatt and Sharvari Wagh headlining the first movie. YRF has invested a huge amount in both War 2 and Alpha. That is why they are not ready to announce any other big-budget movies soon.

The production house will wait for the response to Hrithik Roshan and JR Ntr’s War 2 as well as Alpha and then may think of coming out with a sequel of Pathaan with Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika. Ditto with Tiger Vs Pathaan or another movie from the Tiger franchise. While YRF has a lot of ideas on how to take the spy universe forward, budget can prove a major constraint.
