Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol's DDLJ bronze statue to be installed in London!
Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol's Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (DDLJ) remains an iconic romantic saga. Not just in India, the romantic saga has become a cultural phenomenon globally. Its theme of love and family still resonates with the audience worldwide. The movie will mark 30 years of its release in October (2025). As a fitting tribute to the film's enduring legacy, a bronze statue of Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol is set to be installed at London's Leicester Square. The statue will mark the first-ever tribute to Indian cinema in the area.
As confirmed by the Heart of London Business Alliance on Wednesday, the bronze statue of the iconic duo, SRK and Kajol, will become a part of the popular scenes in the Square movie trail.
Reportedly, the bronze statue is set to be unveiled in the spring of this year, ahead of the film's 30th anniversary on October 20, 2025.
Undeniably, the statue is a testament to the film's global popularity, with DDLJ being recognised alongside Hollywood elite like Harry Potter, Laurel & Hardy, and Batman.
According to the press release, the statue of an iconic scene from the movie will be installed on the eastern terrace outside the Odeon Cinema.
Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge (1995) was produced by eminent filmmaker Yash Chopra and marked his son Aditya Chopra's directorial debut. Apart from SRK and Kajol, the movie also starred Anupam Kher, Amrish Puri, Farida Jalal, Pooja Ruparel and Mandira Bedi, among others. The movie set numerous new records and established SRK as a romantic hero.
