Rashmika Mandanna, Samantha Akkineni and Nayanthara are three of the topmost Southern actresses today. While Nayanthara and Sam are now the reigning queens and have been in the industry for more than a decade, Rashoo is comparatively younger but is still getting big offers from leading production houses from both Bollywood and the Southern film industry.
So, were these leading ladies successful right from the start or did it take them some time to taste the success? Nayanthara is the veteran among these three and debuted in movies in 2003. Over the years the actress has received multiple Filmfare Awards and Nandi Awards for her acting in Telugu, Malayalam and Tamil movies. She was a big success right from the start giving back-to-back hits like Ayya (2005) and Lakshmi (2006).
From Chandramukhi in 2005 to Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy (2019) and Bigil (2019), Nayanthara has belted out hits after hits in a career spanning nearly two decades.
Samantha Akkineni is also a big South Indian superstar who started modeling during her graduation years. The Family Man Season 2 actress debuted with Ye Maaya Chesave (2010) which received critical acclaim and also fetched her a Nandi Award and the Filmfare for Best Debut in Telugu.
She is only the second actress to win the Filmfare Best Actress Award in both Telugu and Tamil the same year. From Dookudo (2011) to Oh Baby and Jaanu (2020), Samantha has evolved as an actress and is also one of the prominent celebrity endorsers.
Rashmika Mandanna is comparatively much younger than Samantha and Nayanthara having started her career in 2016 with the Kannada movie Kirik Party. But it was the romcom Geetha Govindam with Vijay Deverakonda that put her career on the way to stardom. Since then, she has delivered multiple hits including Sarileru Neekevvaru, Pogaru and Bheeshma.
While Samantha and Nayan have a huge following in the South, Rashoo has become the national crush of India in a very short time and soon will debut in Bollywood with Mission Mangal opposite Sidharth Malhotra.
