Ram Gopal Varma makes shocking claim on Rajinikanth, reveals obsession for Sridevi, Amitabh Bachchan Watch

Ram Gopal Varma has made some very good movies, including Satya, Rangeela, Sarkar, Shiva, and so on. But after enjoying success at its pinnacle, he lost track, and his last few movies have failed to impress the audience. They have been far off from being entertaining or interesting enough to encourage the audience to come to the theaters.

Recently during an interview, the famous director shared his thoughts on some big names in Indian cinema including Rajinikanth and Amitabh Bachchan. He also discussed the impact of Baahubali’ s pan-India success on Indian cinema. Ram Gopal Varma also revealed that Rangeela was loosely based on his first love story as for the first time he fell in love with a girl who was already in a relationship with some other guy.

RGV was obsessed with Sridevi, Amitabh Bachchan

He revealed that although he does not have a favourite actor he was at one point obsessed with Sridevi and Amitabh Bachchan. He was extremely impressed with Sadashiv Amprapurkar in Ardha Satya and that is why he cast him in Company. RGV decoded the major difference between a star and an actor and said, “Is Rajinikanth a good actor? I don’t know! I don’t think a Rajinikanth can do a Bhiku Mhatre. But you want to seem only like that. Without slow motion, I don’t know whether Rajinikanth can exist or not. I don’t know.”

He also recalled how he used to hate watching Amitabh Bachchan doing a scene where he is having a stomach ache because Ram Gopal Varma did not like to seem like that. He also said that during the 70s and 80s when Amitabh Bachchan was at his peak, big South Indian actors like Rajinikanth, Chiranjeevi, and NTR remade Bachchan’s films, South copied Bollywood in those days.

Baahubali surprised everyone-RGV

The director said Baahubali’s success and Prabhas becoming an overnight pan-India sensation surprised everyone. It showed how a big movie can collect so much money. He also said that even though Bollywood movies are not doing well, South is also making an equal number of flops, and since the pan India audience gets to see only the best of South they are not aware of the movies that are flopping in the South Indian film industry.
