Allu Arjun hails from a prominent family deeply involved in the Telugu Film Industry. He made his onscreen debut as a child artist in Vijetha. But, as a lead, he made his debut in 2003's Gangotri.

However, Bunny became jobless after his first film. No one came to work with him. Then came a debut filmmaker and Allu Arjun got his first breakthrough movie. Not just Bunny, but the filmmaker also attained his breakthrough with the movie and proved himself as a promising director.

The film is Arya and the helmer is Sukumar. Bunny credits Sukumar for having the maximum impact on his life.

2004's Arya marked the directorial debut of Sukumar. However, Sukumar's first choice for Arya's lead role was Rebel Star Prabhas. Before locking Allu Arjun, the filmmakers approached Prabhas. But, the Baahubali fame, who had made his debut before Allu Arjun in 2002, rejected the offer.

Arya's plot revolves around an outgoing and free-spirited boy falling in love with Geetha, an introverted girl who is on the shield of another person Ajay. Prabhas rejected the film as he didn't want to play a one-sided lover.

Arya was made at a modest budget of Rs 4 crore. The movie was a critical and commercial success. The film ran over 125 days and earned over Rs 30 crore. It proved to be a breakthrough for Allu Arjun and Sukumar established himself as a successful director.
