  • Vijay Sethupathi and Katrina Kaif's Merry Christmas trailer was released today.
  • The chemistry between these two actors is the surprise package of this film.

Sriram Raghavan’s Merry Christmas trailer is out and it sort of makes you remember his last release Andhadhun. But of course, with an unexpected pair like Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupathi in the lead, it is full of surprises and does not fall short of expectations. You come to know why the film is called Merry Christmas as the story unravels slowly in front of you.

In the movie, Katrina Kaif and Vijay Sethupathi meet for the first time on the Eve of Christmas and after that, some dramatic events happen putting both these characters into deep trouble. In the background, you can recognise the voiceover of Tinnu Anand and also Sanjay Kapoor making an appearance.

Merry Christmas trailer serves the purpose, triggers interest

The trailer does not let you know what the story is all about but you can deduce that something is wrong between Katrina and Vijay when Kats asks Vijay to choose between her two fingers. It is all a bit eerie and unexpected as suddenly Katrina Kaif shows Rajesh Khanna’s postcard picture saying, “The night is darkest before dawn”. At the same time, a yellow teddy bear falls and eerie things start happening around.

A bewildered child and unexplained suspense make you get goosebumps. And when Katrina Kaif says, “Hum jisko chahe woh mar jaye ya hamare liye uska pyaar mar jaye marte toh hum hi hai naah.” And the way Vijay Sethupathi says, “Sometimes violence is better than sacrifice” takes the suspense to a new elevated state. So at least the trailer of Merry Christmas is good enough to trigger interest.

As for Katrina Kaif, it seems she has not done this type of role before and it may be well her chance to get a nomination for a few awards. Vijay Sethupathi as usual looks confident delivering his best with his stoic and composed acting.

Importantly, the surprise package is the chemistry between Vijay and Katrina. No one could have thought that they would look so cool together. The movie releases on January 12 and also stars Vinay Pathak, Tinnu Anand, in important roles while Radhika Apte and Ashwini Kalsekar have been roped in for cameos.
