Robert Downey Jr is a familiar name for movie lovers across the world. Downey is best known as Iron Man and Tony Stark for his matchless character portrayal in all the movies of MCU including the Iron Man series and Avengers series.

But, did you know that Downey once showered praises on Bollywood's Mr Perfectionist, Aamir Khan?

Yes, the favourite Marvel character not just praised Aamir but also reportedly called him 'Tom Hanks of India.'

It was in 2010 when Downey attended an interview with Bombay Times when he expressed his views.

Downey lauded Aamir after watching his Lagaan which was nominated for Oscar in 2001.

Praising Aamir and Lagaan he said, “I happened to see Lagaan and believe Aamir Khan was extraordinary."

Further, he said, "India is a land waiting to happen for me and I would love to visit it as soon as I get a chance. All that comes to mind when I hear of this country is diversity, vibrancy, and Bollywood.”

It is not just Downey from Hollywood who was in all praises for Aamir. Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn also had said that Lagaan is probably one of his favourite Indian films. He said this in response to a Twitter user’s question.

Going by the tag of Downey for Aamir back in 2010, coincidentally, the Dangal actor is prepping up for Laal Singh Chaddha which is a Hindi adaptation of Hanks’ Oscar-winning Forrest Gump.

Laal Singh Chaddha is helmed by Advait Chandan and the screenplay is written by Eric Roth and Atul Kulkarni. The movie will also feature South actor and Nagarjuna's son Naga Chaitanya and Kareena Kapoor Khan in prominent roles. Moreover, Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan will be seen in cameo appearances. With this, Laal Singh Chaddha will become the first movie to bring the trio together on the silver screen for the first time.

As per the latest reports, Laal Singh Chaddha has been shot in more than 100 Indian locations. The movie shooting kick-started in 2019, however, it came to a halt after the lockdown in March 2020 owing to COVID pandemic situation. The movie is slated to release in 2021 during Christmas.
