Yash set off his journey as an actor with theatre plays and then made his foray into tele-serials. His first television serial was Nanda Gokula which also starred Radhika Pandit. With the growing popularity, the actor went on to play in several tele-serials like Uttarayana, Malebillu, Preethi Illada Mele and Shiva.
To accelerate his career growth, the actor then stepped into the Kannada Film Industry in 2008. He made his first silver screen appearance in Moggina Manasu in 2008 in a supporting role and bagged the Filmfare Award for Best Supporting Actor for his stellar performance in the movie

According to a post by PVR Cinemas on its verified Twitter handle, Naveen Gowda aka Yash was suggested to change his name with some other fancy names when he started his full-fledged acting career. Then the actor decided to keep his childhood name Yash replacing his real name for the film industry.
Yash was also addressed as ‘Tiger’ by his friends.
