Shah Rukh Khan has won many awards for his acting in Bollywood since he made his debut more than 30 years ago. Time and again he has been accused of using his PR tactics to gain popularity or movies from big banners and also to win awards. However, none of these have ever been proven.

Nevertheless, there has been one occasion when Shah Rukh Khan himself said that he once did try to buy an award by offering a huge amount. These were the early years of SRK in Bollywood when he had started experiencing success back to back and was at such a height that he felt that he certainly deserved all the awards in Bollywood.

Narrating an incident about his mindset and callousness on one of the episodes of Rajat Sharma’s Aap Ki Adalat, the Pathaan actor said, “Jab admi ko want hoti hai, desire..kisi cheez ki toh bahut ghatiya ban jata hai woh. Muzhe yeh chahiye, yeh bhi chahiye, yeh chahiye. Muzhe gadi chahiye, bangla chahiye, yeh bhi chahiye. Toh muzhko awards ki bahut chaha hai toh I was very desperate to get the best actor award because I felt very objectively that I deserved it.”

Aur agar paise lete hai toh main paisa bhi de dunga. Toh maine unse kahan mumzhe award de do.”
