Ayushmann Khurrana, Rashmika Mandanna
Maddock Films has delivered two back-to-back superhits and that too without any presence of big superstars. First Munjya which starred Sharvari Wagh and debutant actor Abhay Verma and now Stree 2 with Rajkummar Rao and Shraddha Kapoor. Undoubtedly, Stree 2 is the sequel to Maddock Films' superhit Stree released in 2018, but the way this sequel emerged as the saviour for theatre owners with 300 crore plus earnings within a week has made it historic.
The production house is now gearing up to release two more movies- Vampires of Vijay Nagar with Rashmika Mandanna and Ayushmann Khurrana and Bhediya 2 with Kriti Sanon and Varun Dhawan. While the Bhediya sequel will go on the floors next year, Vampires of Vijay Nagar is currently in production and is slated to release in the first half of 2025.
Stree 2 gave a cue about this movie from Varun Dhawan ’s cameo as Bhediya. In the climax scene, Varun Dhawan stops Abhishek Banerjee aka Jana from going to Delhi because he has found out that some entities are biting people on their necks and sucking their blood. This was a subtle introduction to the presence of Vampires in the cinematic universe of Stree.
Vampires are an entirely new concept for Bollywood. Although West has been exploring it with big television serials and movies like “The Vampire Diaries,” “Dracula,” and “Twilight” in India mostly the B-grade and C-grade movies like Dracula Sir, Dracula 2012 has been released.
No one knows much about the storyline however a few sources claim that Ayushmann Khurrana will be playing a historian who will sift through old manuscripts to find out about the mystery of the Vampires in Vijay Nagar. Similar to Stree 2 where Varun Dhawan made a cameo as Bhediya, Vampires of Vijay Nagar may also have a cameo by either Rajkummar Rao/Shraddha Kapoor and also Sharvari Wagh/Abhay Verma from Munjya to establish a continuity among the Stree cinematic universe.
The film is being directed by Aditya Sarpotdar who is also the director of this year’s sleeper hit Munjya.
