KGF actor suffered stroke while shooting for ‘Kantara', dies

According to a report by Udayavani, Dinesh had suffered a stroke while shooting for Kantara. He underwent treatment in Bengaluru and initially recovered, but had been struggling with health complications over the past year following a brain hemorrhage.

Veteran Kannada actor and art director Dinesh Mangaluru, widely recognized for his role as the Bombay Don in the blockbuster KGF, passed away on Monday at the age of 55. He breathed his last around 3:30 am at his residence in Udupi.

According to a report by Udayavani, Dinesh had suffered a stroke while shooting for Kantara. He underwent treatment in Bengaluru and initially recovered, but had been struggling with health complications over the past year following a brain hemorrhage. He reportedly fell ill again last week and was admitted to Ankadakkatte Suregon Hospital before his demise.

Dinesh had a prolific career spanning decades, earning acclaim for his performances in films such as Kichcha, Kirik Party, Rana Vikrama, Ambari, Savari, Inti Ninna Beti, Aa Dingi, and Slum Bala. Before becoming a familiar face on screen, he worked extensively as an art director, with credits in movies like Prarthane, Tughlak, Bettada Jeeva, Surya Kanti, and Raavana. He also had strong roots in theatre, which shaped his craft before transitioning to cinema. 

Born in Kundapur in Udupi district, Dinesh later settled in Bengaluru, where he continued his work in the film industry.
His mortal remains will be brought to Bengaluru on Monday evening. The family has announced that the body will be kept for public viewing at his Laggere residence from 8 am on Tuesday, with the final rites to be conducted at the Sumanahalli crematorium. 

He is survived by his wife Bharati and their two sons, Pawan and Sajjan.
