The first episode of the House of the Dragon Season 2 indicated that the upcoming episodes will be full of bloodshed as a reaction to the death of young Jaehaerys. It was quite obvious that the mindsets of the Blacks and the Greens were triggered in a big way and at any moment a war could start. The second episode of House of the Dragon Season 2 was a sort of reflection on the anger and grief that is boiling on either side of the Dance of the Dragons.
The 72-minute episode shows that the death of Jaehaerys has made the Greens go into a frenzy because King Aegon II Targaryen spares no time in declaring war. Alicent on the other hand makes use of the grief and the horror as a slow wound and is also full of guilt. She says, “The Gods punish us. They punish me.”
Everyone then decides that Helaena and Alicent will go along with the child’s decapitated body in a sort of funeral procession and use this moment to garner sympathy from everyone in the kingdom and also unite them in this grief. And it is followed by an outstanding sequence in the House of the Dragon Season 2 Episode 2which has a soul-wrenching musical score by Ramin Djawadi and beautiful cinematography by Alejandro Martinez.
House of the Dragons S2 Episode 2 - Rhaenyra is Left Alone to Fight Her Battles..
It is also a time for Rhaenyra to introspect as the blame for the young one’s death has now fallen on her and she suddenly realizes that there is no one in the kingdom she can trust. As a result, she has a heated argument with Daemon who accepts that what happened was a mistake but still the bloodshed has happened and nothing and no one can change that.
It also means that henceforth Rhaenyra will have to fight her own battles and be all alone. She will have to convince everyone that she can never approve of killing a young one especially after she lost her son. Although Rhaenyra is regretting and upset with the death of Jaehaerys she has been considered guilty which is why Arryk is selected to kill Rhaenyra and is asked to go to Dragonstone.
Amid all this the vibe of suspicion and revenge reign supreme with the bloody consequences also affecting those who are not a part of the royalty.
