Ghajini 2 BIG UPDATE: Suriya and Aamir Khan to shoot simultaneously, 'No Remake Tag'
The recent buzz surrounding Ghajini 2 has filled excitement among all. Earlier, reports surfaced that Aamir Khan is interested in developing Ghajini into a franchise. Later, reports of AR Murugadoss planning to make a sequel to Ghajini surfaced and Kanguva star Suriya confirmed the same. Now, an interesting update has surfaced. Both Aamir Khan and Suriya will shoot for Ghajini 2 simultaneously and either of the movies will have 'No Remake Tag'.
Notably, Aamir Khan's Ghajini, released in 2008, set a new benchmark in the Indian Film Industry and paved the way for movies to enter the Rs 100 Crore Club. However, it was an official remake of Suriya's Ghajini, released in 2005. But, the same will not happen with the sequel as Aamir and Suriya will shoot for Ghajini 2 simultaneously in Hindi and Tamil language, respectively.
Earlier, reports surfaced about Aamir discussing a sequel to Ghajini with producers Allu Aravind and Madhu Mantena. Moreover, the producers pitched an idea and the PK actor asked them to develop the draft with the concept. As per the latest report by Pinkvilla, Allu Aravind is planning to make Ghajini 2 in Tamil language, with Suriya in the lead.
The Kanguva actor was quoted as saying, "Ghajini 2 was actually, surprising that you asked me now. After a long time, Allu Aravind came up with that idea (for a sequel) and asked if that would be possible. I said definitely sir, we can think of it. Yes, the talk has started, the things are in process. Ghajini 2 might happen.”
Further, the entertainment portal quoted a close source saying, "With things going Pan India, remakes of cult films with popular stars are a thing of the past now. Both Suriya and Aamir Khan are excited by the idea of Ghajini 2, but don’t want the remake tag on their film."
The source also added that both Suriya and Aamir are concerned that the movie that was released first will take away the novelty factor. Thus, both the actors, Allu Aravind and Madhu Mantena came up with a solution of shooting both movies simultaneously in both languages. Furthermore, the movies will be released at the same time.
As per the report, a bound script of Ghajini 2 is yet to be developed. However, both the actors are focused on ensuring that the movie is an organic sequel and not made for the sake of money. Currently, the scripting work is underway and a clearer picture will be available about the sequel in mid-2025.
On the other hand, Suriya is currently busy with the promotions of his upcoming Kanguva, which also stars Bobby Deol as the antagonist and Disha Patani in a key role. During a recent press conference, Suriya praised Rajinikanth and Aamir Khan.
At the event, when Suriya was referred to as a Superstar, he immediately corrected that the title belonged to Rajinikanth.
"I am not a superstar, Rajini sir is. There can only be one superstar and it’s him," he said.
Further, praising Aamir, Suriya thanked the Laal Singh Chaddha actor for putting him on the map.
Suriya said, “I never thought I would be in the film industry, even till five days before I faced the camera and despite my dad being in the industry. I am thankful for all the love and it all started with Aamir sir talking to the media about me, telling them that I was the one who starred in the original version of Ghajini. He introduced me to the entire fraternity and media all over the country. Sincere thanks to him for putting my name on the map."
