Aishwarya Rai Bachchan
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is hailed as the Queen of Cannes. Ever since she made her debut at the elite Film Festival in 2002 for the screening of Devdas with Shah Rukh Khan, the actress has become one of the most awaited celebrities on the red carpet every year. She has often been criticised for maintaining the same hairstyle or choosing the wrong outfits at Cannes but Aishwarya Rai Bachchan has never been ridiculed for bad or poor taste.
But this time at Cannes 2025 the beauty queen went a step ahead and not only rocked the red carpet with her gorgeous face card but also proudly represented India exhibiting different symbols.

After a long gap, the Guru actress walked the ramp this time in a saree which is the traditional attire of India. And to match it she also wore a Sindoor which traditionally married Hindu women wore in every household. While it is indeed a part of Hindu tradition, Sindoor gained special significance after the Indian Army launched Operation Sindoor to teach terrorists responsible for the Pahalgam incident a lesson.
Aishwarya Rai Bachchan did not share any post in support of the Armed Forces or Operation Sindoor. Nonetheless, many Indians believe that by flaunting Sindoor at Cannes 2025 which is an international platform she has indirectly expressed her solidarity towards the actions taken by the Indian Army.
And that is not all. The white cape or shawl that she wore on the second day at the Film Festival had a shloka from Bhagwat Gita written on the back. It was clearly visible and has been captured by many shutterbugs across the world. It is the famous shloka said by Lord Krishna which says, “Karmanye vadhikaraste ma phaleshu kadachana, Ma karmaphalaheturbhurma te sangostvakarmani."
