Sandeep Reddy Vanga’s Animal is milking millions at the box office. As promised he has delivered one of the most violent movies of Bollywood. Despite all the criticism from many Bollywood A-listers, and even a section of society, this Ranbir Kapoor-led starrer has been unstoppable.
Both Ranbir and Sandeep Reddy Vanga have confirmed that the team is planning to come out with a sequel titled “Animal Park.” While Ranbir Kapoor is confirmed in the lead role, the other actors are yet to be announced.
Talking about the same recently, the Kabir Singh director made some shocking promises that are sure to irk those who have disliked Animal.
‘I’m not going to tone down’ - Sandeep Reddy Vanga
Sandeep said that he expected the criticism that his movie received from certain quarters. The director said, “Mein aur Ranbir baat karte the bahot baar. That criticism will multiply 10 times more than Kabir Singh because Kabir Singh was a surprise. For Arjun Reddy, it was 1 to 2% but for Kabir Singh, I could not understand from where the energies are coming.”
Vanga said that these critics see only certain parts of a movie, they cannot review a film in totality. The director did not spare words while slamming these critics saying that they do not have any knowledge of the context of why it is being said or what is the back story.
The Animal director said, “They pick a few points. During Kabir Singh, I very well knew it would multiply 10 times and still, I am not bothered because they (critics) are not doing it in the right way. When you challenge and live up to the expectations they will hate you more. That is what happening now.”
Incidentally, Sandeep was not at all surprised with the level of criticism his movie was receiving. Rather he was expecting it. He said, “If morality comes into the picture you cannot make the film.
'The quality of the art should upset and provoke people'
Vanga believes that art has the quality to upset and provoke people. He taunted the critics saying that if movies like Animal shock the people and question the morality of the characters in the flick, then people should stick to making only cartoons. According to Vanga, the movie is clearly for adults so how come high school girls are coming out of the theater crying since they should not watch Animal?
What surprised him most was the clear hatred towards the filmmaker than the film. Many believed that the last part where the film ends was a way of getting back at the critics but Vanga said that the scene was a way for the director to indicate to the audience that a part 2 is happening and that they would root for it.
Vanga said critics won’t even dare to criticise Animal Park
Talking about the sequel Animal Park, Sandeep Reddy Vanga said, “Animal Park ke waqt to marr jayenge. They won’t even dare to criticise Animal Park. I’m not saying that I will do it more but the content is like that.”
