With the deadline of application process for Plus 3 admission in Odisha ending tomorrow (Saturday), several students who have opted for special offline Plus 2 examination are now in a state of utter confusion.

While the date of conduct of the offline examination and publication of results is yet to be finalised for Plus 2 students, the Plus 3 admission process is nearing end. At this juncture, students are baffled whether to apply for the Plus 3 admission with the marks awarded to them through alternative assessment system or wait for the offline examination.

The students are clueless whether they will get another chance to apply for Plus 3 admission once the results of offline examination are out. Moreover, the question whether they will be able to secure seat in good institutions even after securing good marks is also haunting them.

Gurudutta Patnaik, a Plus 2 student said, “Those who received good marks through alternative assessment are now taking part in the Plus 3 admission process. As the form fill-up date ends tomorrow, the government should come up with measures to ensure that the left out students can take hassle-free admission after the offline examination is over.”

“The government should extend the Plus 3 admission process keeping in view the offline examination of Plus 2 Students,” opined Sumanta Sundaray, another student.

After cancellation of the Class 10 and 12 board examinations this year in the wake of Covid pandemic, the Board of Secondary Education (BSE) had conducted offline examination for dissatisfied candidates and published the results within 20 days. However, the Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) reportedly delayed announcing the application date for offline examination and also kept the students in dark about the possible date of examination and publication of results.

School and Mass Education Minister Sameer Dash admitted that holding Plus 2 offline examination and publishing results is a long process.

“We hope that the admission process should be conducted after the publication of offline results. However, I do not think it is feasible to wait for the announcement of the offline results,” Dash said.
